Mountain Communities Volunteer Fire Department

The People We Serve

The Mountain Communities Volunteer Fire Department (MCVFD) protects and serves a community of about 2,000 residents and thousands of visitors within Douglas and Teller counties and the beautiful Pike National Forest in Colorado.

“Big shout out to our local Mountain Communities Volunteer Fire Department! Members volunteer countless hours training and responding to numerous calls for firefighting and medical emergencies. Thank you to all who have served MCVFD for your heroism and your willingness to put your lives in danger not just for our communities but for all of the surrounding areas.”

The Land We Protect

We have the honor of protecting roughly 100 square miles of beautiful Colorado country. Though technically outside of the Mountain Communities Fire Protection District (MCFPD), our coverage extends over an additional 100 square miles of no-man’s land.

Make a Difference

Being an MCVFD member takes serious commitment and determination. The hours are long and the pay is terrible, but the rewards and experience are priceless and will last a lifetime.
